Bryant is from the Bronx, New York, where she was raised by her grandmother. She was interested in entertainment from an early age, starting dancing at age three. Joy was a pretty girl, so naturally she gravitated to modelling. She took some music video roles and appeared in Victoria's Secret, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, RocaWear and Gap ads. Her music videos included Ill Al Skratch's video "I'll Take Her" and the Carlos Santana and Musiq Soulschild music video for the song 'Nothing at All.' This led to some acting roles, first in Robert Townsend's 'Carmen: A Hip Hopera' and then 'Showtime.' The roles gradually improved, and a recurring role on hospital drama 'ER' came along in 2003-2004. More recently, Joy has starred in 'Parenthood' as Jasmine since 2010.
Bryant also appears in films and now lives in Glendale, California. She is an ambassador for Oxfam's Sisters on the Planet and is married to Dave Pope. Joy Bryant continues to charm television audiences and surely will for many years to come.
