Martha Hunt (born 1989) is an American fashion model. She's mostly known for her work with Free People and for walking in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2013 and 2014.
Martha is from Wilson, North Carolina. Discovered by a photographer in Charlotte, Martha signed with Code Management in 2007 and moved to New York City, debuting that September with an Issey Miyake show in Paris. Not long after, she signed with the Nathalie agency in Paris. After that, she was on her way, walking for Givenchy the following year and appearing in Elle.
Martha's cover include the Greek Elle in July 2012, Style in Spring 2011 in the US, and, both in 2014, Marie Claire Italy in June and L'Officiel Mexico in October. Martha has walked for all the top designers, including: Acne, Balmain, Carolina Herrera, Chanel, Christopher Kane, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Hervé Léger, Jason Wu, Louis Vuitton, Marchesa, Miu Miu, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Rag & Bone, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Tory Burch and Versace.
Martha's journey with Victoria's Secret began not long after the 2012 Victoria's Secret Show. She posed for the Victoria's Secret catalogue and did some other work for them. This led her to walk in the 2013 show, and she did so well that they asked her back in 2014. She appears to be a favorite of Victoria's Secret senior creative director Ed Razek, and she appeared in holiday 2014 Victoria's Secret advertising directed by Michael Bay. Rumor has it that she is in the running to become an Angel.
Martha has a Facebook page, an Instagram and a Twitter account, where she updates her fans. She is in the running for the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Martha Hunt, incidentally, also has joined the Taylor Swift fan club. She appeared in the "Bad Blood" music video, and also has gone onstage at a "1989" concert. As one of Swift's dear friends, she even went to the July 4th barbecue in Rhode Island. Taylor obviously is cultivating relationships with Victoria's Secret models for some reason, and Martha says that she is very glad to know the singer:
"She's always there for me and she always has good advice. She's been in the spotlight for a very long time so she obviously has so much advice to give me. I love hanging out with her, I love learning from her. She's really talented, she writes her own music. I mean, I have nothing but good things to say about her."That's all well and good. Martha makes Taylor sound a bit more like Yoda than a 20-something singer and wannabe Victoria's Secret girl, but whatever is going on with all these girls, it sure does give them all some good publicity. Is Taylor, based strictly on looks, of Victoria's Secret quality? Frankly, no, though she tries with the very best makeup and fashions she can (easily) afford. But at least Taylor aims high.
