Jaime King aka James King aka Jamie King (born April 23, 1979) is an American actress and model who shot to fame in the mid-1990s. She has branched out from modelling into acting, and at this point is probably better known as an actress than as a model.
Jaime is from Omaha, Nebraska. Her mother was a beauty contest winner, and she has two sisters and a brother. Her namesake is Jaime Summers from 'The Bionic Woman.' Jaime had an early passion for modelling, attending the Nancy Bounds Studio for modelling while still in high school, and dropped out to pursue her career in New York. She was discover when she was 14 at the Bounds studio by agent Michael Flutie, who invited her to New York. She joined Company Management there, and quickly scored an Abercrombie & Fitch ad in mid-1994.
Jaime's career started taking off, and she went by 'James' King for a number of years due to a name conflict with another model. This name thing and Jaime's personal story piqued the interest of writer Jennifer Egan, who wrote a huge 4 February 1996 cover story for the New York Times Magazine about Jaime - 'James is a Girl' - which vaulted her into the consciousness of just about everyone who read the New York Times at that time. The story itself was full of drama about her personal life and truly a gripping tale. It and the accompanying pictures showed 'James' as a normal girl with normal problems despite her fame who was fighting to overcome them.
After that, Jaime was among the elite in the modelling world, and in 1998 took a job co-hosting MTV's 'House of Style.' To this day, despite all her subsequent success and the fact that professionally she changed her name back to Jaime King, many people remember her and refer to Jaime as James King.
Among Jaime's many covers:

- Germany: 'Elle' - June 1998; 'Vogue' (Special) - March 1999; 'Glamour' - August 18 2003; 'Glamour' - August 19 2008

Jaime's acting career, after a few appearances that banked on her fame as a supermodel, really began in the 1999 comedy 'Happy Campers.' Since then, she has had numerous independent film roles and occasionally high-profile appearances, such as in 'Pearl Harbor' (2001), 'Sin City' (2005) and 'White Chicks' (2004). All this has made her a true celebrity, and she has appeared in music videos by The Fray and Lana Del Rey, and also voiced a character on 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars.'
Jaime was a drug addict during her teens, and her boyfriend from that time, David Sorrenti, apparently died from complications arising from drug abuse. She later sought treatment and kicked the drug and alcohol habits. She is married to Kyle Newman, who directed her in 'Fanboys.' They have a son, James Knight Newman. Jaime remains a top celebrity, friends with Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey and many others, and continuing with her successful acting career.
