Shakara Ledard (born 21 February 1979) is a top model from the Bahamas. While Shakara has done some work for Victoria's Secret, she is more known for multiple appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and for her film career. Shakara was born in Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas. She has at times gone by the names Shakara Beach and Shakara Beach Ledard.
Ledard is of French and West African descent and has three brothers.
Shakara appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2000, 2001 and 2005.
Ledard began modelling in Fort Lauderdale, where her family was living. After she graduated, she moved to Chicago and began modelling full-time.
Shakara has an Associate's Degree.
Ledard was married to male model Ralph Jacob.
Shakara first got interested in modelling at the age of 9, when Linda Evangelista encouraged her to take it up.
Shakara began acting at the height of her modelling career. She played Oshun in "Cubamor" in 2001, and Jessica in "Prey for Rock & Roll" in 2003.
She appeared on "Politically Incorrect" in 2002, and at the 9th Annual Soul Train Awards the following year.
Jessica was in Justin Timberlake's Justified videos in 2003, along with Nelly and Shazia.
Perhaps Ledard's best known film was "Raising Helen" in 2004, when she played Tinka.
Her other film roles include "After the Sunset," "The Defender," "Behind the Smile" and "Full Clip."

Shakara got her start in modelling when, at age 14, she sent photos to ten agencies in Miami. All but one ultimately offered Shakara a contract.
